A day in Chandragiri (Nepal)

Yesterday was 24th January of 2017, most awaited day since 1st January 2017, for Chandragiri visit. We began at 5:12 am from Basundhara route to Chauki through Kalanki; since we have to transit two bus stations. We were lucky the bus, we were travelling approached in both stations in time. May be the credit owes to driver & conductor, they were really adroit.
We arrived at chauki at some around 7 am. It was approximately 1-2km distance to reach at bottom station of chandragiri. We preferred walking, may be it was bad decision as it was dusty road, graveling was on-going. On the way to it, was really tedious, my mind was diverting me, just return away and my consciousness was blaming to Municipality for harsh road condition. After 18-30 minutes of walking we finally arrived at my friends house, near by was his family-restaurant, Byanjan Fastfood & Restaurant.
We were fatigue after long walk :) though it wasn't 2 km. My friend managed to have breakfast, served with hot coffee, I got mesmerized by its aroma. We have little conversations then we headed for chandragiri bottom station. When we entered gate, we began relief, the environment was really tidy and management have given enough management to maintain such management. We really got astonished by its surrounding. I requested him to buy ticket for us, after insisting he agreed and managed to buy 3 tickets with 25% discount each.  Well, we were to head for up-station, it wouldn't wait eon :) We depart my friend assuring to meet on returning home. I was glad every staffs were busy serving visitors unlike in any places I have seen & been around. We showed our tickets and we climbed in cable car, electric automate rope way to up-station chandragiri. I sat on facing bottom station as I was eager to have view of valley. On the way up, I have enough time to see around I happened to see a text written "imported from Italy", meant that cable car was imported from far-far away from Nepal and I was peculiar about business in Nepal. It was around 9am and climate was a bit cold, leaving winter that day was a bit clear; on the way after 4-5 minutes we saw clear view of the Himalaya range clearly striking morning sun rays, it was blazing like uncontaminated diamond. Now we were really exciting, we could see below dense forest, full of pines; we were having really a good time.
We drop out approx 10min later, now we could felt a striking cold, but surrounding environment could hypnotize us easily. We spent around 20-30 mins, glance beautiful nature view, felt nature have clandestine & really wants to pour all its discreet at once. After a moment we headed towards hill top, chandragiri temple. There was a lot of surprising builts done, parks, tiles floored, cafe's, restaurant, refreshment stalls, valley view tower, playground for playgroup(children), horse riding & many more. We heard nothing is allowed to take food or it's expensive at hilltop so we had taken some dry foods ourselves, but I was wrong, dry food price at hilltop were remarkably same. We could see many visitors having splendid & fun time with their co-partners, families. Now days' selfie takers are like omnipresent, so we began taking selfies too :). Miss newa competitors were there for photo session, tourists were looking complacent to be there so do we were. The resort was under construction, we could see clearly next to hill, was very big construction work. We thought to come again next time, we went for cable car station to come down for lower station.

We really had good time, gratitude to my friend for his valuable time, we could feel smug. On the way, visitors may feel loathe, windy dusty narrow road, but after 100m from chauki, police station any one can be spellbind by moderate weather of chandragiri. It have opulent environment, excellent agile staffs from counter boot to hill top, & of-course it facilitates own vehicle i.e. bus to drop in drop out along the way(valley ring-road); free fare.

  1. Helpful article, a nice place to visit in kathmandu. Traffic is horrible though on the way; better to go early to view sunrise.
